How To Order

Step 1 - Gather and Send Photos

All of my pet portrait work is created using reference photos. Here’s the bottom line…the better the reference photos are, the better the finished pet portrait painting will be. Since, with each pet portrait painting, it is my job to capture the likeness and spirit of each animal, great reference photos are a must.

Clients first step when thinking about commissioning a dog portrait is to look at a range of photos you already have, to see if any are suitable for a dog portrait.

If your photos aren't quite good enough, new photos would be your next step.
Take a look at my guide to taking a good photo of your pet by clicking on the button below.

The most important step is to send me your photographs. I only work from photos and require they be good quality, clear and in-focus. This is really essential. I ideally need one or two really good quality photos to work from of your dog/s for the main pose of the portrait and can use others for color and detail. Why not head over to my photography tips page and find out about the kind of photos I like to work from.

Once I have seen vour photos and let me know the kind of portrait vou’re looking for I can then start to design the portrait for you. I create a 'Mock-Up' or design of your portrait using your photos so you can see what it might look like before we start any work. This enables us to go back and forth to make sure the composition is perfect and exactly what you want.
