For the artist's premiere collection of photorealist oil paintings, Sara invites the steamy Miami atmosphere to penetrate within, fully experiencing the elements from the inside out. What Sara transmits back to the viewer are the sensory components that give this exotic place its irresistible allure.
The project began in 2013, with Sara's first ever oil painting, The Boulevard. Consumed with the city's then current state of rapid overdevelopment, the inspiration for this first painting was an appreciation toward Miami's historically significant Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern architecture. To create awareness of the "Old Miami" beauty, Sara selected a photograph she had taken in 2011 of a friend's legs standing stylishly on Biscayne Boulevard. She used this photo as reference for her first painting.
Unaware of her painting abilities at the time, Sara was shocked as her hidden talent emerged with each session. Suddenly revitalized, her meaning to life was realized. Sara made the art her priority and continued with what was to become The Miami Collection, wanting to explore the qualities that made Miami unique to her.
Sara spent a lot of time alone with nature. Her favorite spot was the beach. Visiting it daily, they became intimately acquainted and she swears to have seen God in Miami's powerful Ocean. The artist could transcend with a palm frond while simply observing as it playfully flapped in the wind. The colors of Miami Beach baffled and mesmerized her. The turquoise blue water, the lush green landscape; how could anything be so beautiful?
Sara used the emotions evoked by her connection with nature to transmit another essential element of Miami: sensuality and style. Wanting to convey an air of mystery with the subjects in her paintings, Sara conceals their core from the viewer. And it is here we find the significance behind the collection: Curiosity and Persistence.
The Miami Collection presents you with a rare experience in the realm of fine art appreciation. Entirely self-taught, the artist is diligent about progress and sets goals to improve with each subsequent painting. In this unique show, you will observe the remarkable progress made in the chronological viewing of each painting; from Sara's very first oil painting finished in 2014, to her most recent 2016 works.
